We’re a team of volunteers that’s empowering children in Arusha, Tanzania to break the cycle of poverty

25,918 children empowered so far

Education & Health Projects

We partner with 11 communities in rural Tanzania where 99% of families are trapped in the poverty cycle. Together we transform their local dilapidated school into an inspiring place to learn and thrive. Each community contributes 10% of the labour to our projects.

Empowering Girls

Girls are central to all of our projects because they are often missing up to 50 days of school per year due to lack of facilities to manage their period. Plus, they are at risk of child marriage, child pregnancy and child labour. But don’t worry, we don’t forget about the boys!

100% Donation Promise

We’re a group of volunteers that have dedicated our time since 2013 so that 100% of donations goes to our projects. We prioritise showing our supporters exactly where their money has gone through the help of GPS and lots of photos and videos.

How we support these communities

Our projects are based around local schools by focusing on four essential programme areas:

Let Us Learn: Learning environment

Classrooms & teaching resources are essential for any school. In Tanzania the recommended classroom size is 45 students, but many schools have classes of 100-140 students with not enough desks for everyone.

Water Is Life: Clean water

In rural Arusha there is no access to fresh drinking water meaning students are thirsty, miss classes to collect water for their school or are left to consume unsafe water.

Being Well: Health & sanitation

A huge reason for missing school is due to sickness from poor sanitation & hygiene facilities and lack of education.

Girl Empowerment: Education for girls

Girls can miss school up to 3-4 days a month because they don’t have facilities or products to use during their period.

 Why we work in Tanzania

  • Tanzania is the 34th poorest country in the world

  • We have visited class sizes of 144 in one standard classroom because there is such high demand, which makes education quality low

  • Girls are often stigmatised during menstruation and do not attend school

  • 5 students often have to share 1 textbook

  • If a child doesn’t pass their exams at the end of Primary School first time, they will not be able to attend Secondary School

Why we’re unique

We are small and personable

We believe in transparency so much that we publish our mistakes online

We focus on quality of education as opposed to quantity

We listen to the community & find solutions together

We partner with a Tanzanian NGO to deliver the projects & we remain behind the scenes

We are run by volunteers with a variety of diverse skills

Our Tanzanian delivery partners

We work with local communities and organisations in Arusha to tackle barriers to education together. Since 2020, our main collaboration is with Ndoto In Action, a registered Tanzanian charity that aid us in delivering the work needed on the ground. We have previously collaborated with CHETI NGO since 2013.

Having trusted partners in the local areas helps us guarantee that the donations we receive will always make it to our projects!
